Bangor 0-3 Ballymena United
JJB Sports Premiership - Saturday, 13th December, 2008
BALLYMENA United picked up their third win in a row with this defeat of Bangor at Clandeboye Park.

The visitors started brightly with David Cushley and Stuart King both going close. Cushley had an effort well saved by Andrew Plummer while King fired just wide.

Plummer did well again later in the half when he palmed away a Kevin Kelbie effort after the Scottish striker had brought the ball in from the left.

For Bangor Noel Anderson looked most threatening and was only stopped by a last gasp Aaron Stewart tackle just as he was poised to shoot while Marty Verner and Dominic Melly both tested United 'keeper Alan Blayney.

But the deadlock was broken three minutes into the second when Gavin McDonnell headed United in front from six yards after David Cushley delivered a corner from the right.

Marty Quinn's side came bursting out of the blocks after the break with Melly sending a free-kick just over followed by a Verner glancing header which Blayney dealt with competently.

Michael Ward made it 2-0 to United on 68 minutes when he beat two home defenders after getting on the end of a Cushley ball into the area.

And he made sure of the points with his second just five minutes from time. Cushley found Kelbie down the left who, in turn, delivered the ball into the path of Ward who made no mistake from four yards.
