Glentoran 0-0 Lisburn Distillery
JJB Sports Premiership - Tuesday, 9th December, 2008
GLENTORAN stretched their lead at the top of the table to eight points with this draw at home to Lisburn Distillery.

And the Whites themselves are now just a point behind Linfield in second place following a rich vein of form that has produced just one reversal in their last eight outings.

Both sides could point to just the one moment of note in an otherwise uninpsiring first half. David Scullion fired a promisingly looking 25-yard effort goalward only for Philip Matthews to gather safely while, for the visitors, Curtis Allen delivered a stinging shot against the chest of Glens 'keeper James Taylor.

The action was a bit more immediate after the break with Colin Nixon testing Matthews just three minutes in while, around the hour mark, the experienced defender actally had the ball in the net from a Kyle Neill free-kick only for it to be ruled out offside.

The Glens came close again when Matthews saved well from Gary Hamilton while Daryl Fordyce was unable to convert the rebound.

At the other end Ben Browne might have snatched the points for the Whites with a 75th minute drive which brought out the best in Taylor.
