Linfield 4-1 Dungannon Swifts
Carling Premiership - Tuesday, 9th March, 2010
LINFIELD stretched their lead at the top of the Carling Premiership with this comprehensive defeat of Dungannon Swifts at Windsor Park.

Billy Joe Burns got the ball rolling on 23 minutes when he found himself unmarked to turn a header past Alvin Rouse before Curtis Allen followed up after half-an-hour with a low left-foot drive from the edge of the area but was denied adding to the scoreline soon after by Swifts 'keeper Alvin Rouse.

The Blues added to their tally on 61 minutes courtesy of a Philip Lowry header after Jamie Tomelty had floated the ball over from the left.

Dungannon pulled one back a couple of minutes later, though, when Michael Ward converted from the spot after Tomelty had brought down McIlmoyle in the box.

But Allen restored Linfield's three goal cushion just six minutes later with a simple tap-in when Thompson pulled the ball back across the face of goal.
