Glentoran 2-1 Institute
Carling Premiership - Tuesday, 9th March, 2010
SCOTT Young recorded his first win as Glentoran manager but not without suffering an early scare at home to struggling Institute.

The visitors, who are battling to escape from the play-off position, stunned their hosts with the opening goal after just 11 seconds when Ryan Semple caught the Glentoran defence totally unaware as he got on the end of an Eamon Seydak ball to fire past 'keeper James Taylor.

Gary Hamilton came within a whisker of levelling on 17 minutes only to hit the post with an overhead kick but it only took the former Northern Ireland international man a further five minutes to grab the equaliser when he knocked home a penalty awarded for a Ruairi Boyle foul on Richard Clarke.

Institute might have regained the lead ten minutes later, though, but David Ogilby was unable to beat Taylor from the spot after Joe McCready had been fouled by Sean Ward.

Both sides went in at the break with ten men when, towards the end of the half, referee Simon Creaney sent-off both Daryl Fordyce and Ruairi McClean for an off the ball clash.

'Stute twice came close in the second half through Kevin Ramsey and Shaun Holmes but both were denied by great saves from Taylor.

However, their endeavours were to count for nothing on 72 minutes when Clarke lobbed Gavin Cullen from 22 yards for what proved to be the winner.
