Marty Verner opened the scoring for the Seasiders on 29 minutes when Nathan McConnell delivered a cross from the left for him to volley past Paul Murphy from close range.

Moments earlier Murphy did well to push out a 30-yard Aaron McKee cross from underneath the bar.

The visitors levelled three minutes from the break through Emmett Friars who rose to head a Lee Feeney lob beyond the reach of 'keeper Andrew Plummer.

And Newry almost snatched the points on 56 minutes when Feeney blasted the ball against the woodwork from some 25 yards.
