Irish FA wins top UK Marketing Award

THE Irish FA’s Marketing and Communications Department has been rewarded for their hard work in 2009 by winning the prestigious Chartered Institute of Marketing’s UK Award for Small and Medium Enterprise.

The winner of the award, which was announced at a gala dinner in London this week, is judged on a number of criteria including innovative and creative ideas, evidence of added on value to the organisation, positive changes in audience behaviour, customer satisfaction, time and budget management, and an adaptability to meet the current financial climate and changing markets. All of these factors should show a return on the marketing investment by the organisation.

This is the first time that the Marketing and Communications Department has been recognised on the National stage and Head of the Department, Geoff Wilson, is delighted to receive the award. He said: “Firstly I would like to congratulate the marketing and communications team on this fantastic achievement.

"The CIM is the world’s largest organisation for professional marketers and to be given this award is a clear indication that we are doing our jobs well. What makes winning this award much more special is that we were up against marketing teams from all areas of business and not just those from other sporting organisations.

"Our marketing plan and strategy for domestic football continues to be very successful with attendance rising year on year. I must also thank all of our sponsors and clubs who have played a major part in making our marketing strategy so successful.”
