A GARY Twigg goal proved the difference between Portadown and Donegal Celtic today at Shamrock Park.
Twigg almost marked his Portadown debut with a goal inside the opening minute after Ross Redman played a cross into his path only for the former Shamrock Rovers man to just fail to connect.
Then, on 15 minutes, Redman was again involved with another ball which Kevin Braniff touched on but Ryan Burns was unable to force it over the line.
Twigg wasn't to be denied, however, on 50 minutes when Sean Mackle crossed from the right for the debutant frontman to head past John Connolly.
Later in the second half Tim Mouncey forced the Celtic 'keeper into a point blank save to tip over from a Redman corner.
Pat McShane had DC's best chance in a game of limited opportunities with a low shot which ultimately lacked the power necessary to beat David Miskelly.
