DUNGANNON Swifts picked up a vitally important three points with this defeat of Lisburn Distillery at Stangmore Park.
The Whites are now ten points clear of Tim McCann's basement strugglers and six ahead of Donegal Celtic.
Ryan Harpur might have opened the scoring for the Swifts on seven minutes only for his rasping free-kick to be well saved by Lee Windrum.
Dungannon continued this early pressure through new signing James Costello who saw two efforts blocked by the Whites 'keeper.
Costello then almost turned provided on 28 minutes when his run and cross was nodded on by Matt Hazley as far as P.J. Lavery but once again Windrum produced a save to deny the Swifts.
The Whites responded with a Gary Liggett effort which drifted just wide while, at the other end, Harpur almost broke the deadlock with a 35-yard free-kick which landed on the roof of the net.
Andy Hunter almost opened the scoring in favour of the visitors on 47 minutes when he was presented with a free header only to head wide.
And on 58 minutes the Whites threatened again when Scott Davidson forced Niall Morgan into a fantastic save.
But, very much against the run of play, the Swifts grabbed the points on 78 minutes through Emmett Friars after he rose highest to nod home a Harpur free-kick.
