BALLYMENA United picked up their first Danske Bank Premiership victory in eight outings with this comfortable defeat of Ballinamallard United at The Showgrounds.

Christopher Rodgers fired Glenn Ferguson's men in front after just 67 seconds when he rose to nod home an Alan Teggart corner.

The Mallards might have levelled on 28 minutes when David Kee tested Dwayne Nelson from close range only for the Sky Blue 'keeper to produce a fantastic save.

At the other end Leon Carters cleared a goalbound effort off the line before, on 40 minutes, Shane Dolan added Ballymena's second with a shot in off an upright.

The Sky Blues added to their tally three minutes after the break. Ballinamallard 'keeper Alvin Rouse did well to turn away a Dolan effort but from the resultant corner David Cushley fired home from the edge of the area.
